Program Description

At CWU, we describe our focus as Environment. People. Place. Mapping. We pride ourselves in developing student-faculty research partnerships in all these areas.
Likely Career Paths
City planner, environmental manager, data analyst, recreation developer, natural resource manager. Our graduates have pursued careers in government, in the private sector, in academics, and at non-profits.

Advising Notes
- Students interested in Geography are encouraged to complete an AA-DTA prior to transfer.
- Geography offers both a Bachelor of Arts and two Bachelor of Science options. Students who transfer with an AA-DTA can complete the degree and often an additional certificate in two years. We offer the BA online, face-to-face, and hybrid. Online students can take many GIS classes if they want to pursue a career in the tech industry.
- Any Washington state DTA (Direct Transfer Agreement) degree will satisfy all general education requirements.
- Major requirements may change over time; students will be expected to meet the catalog requirements in place at the time they are admitted to the major.
