Dance, Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Program Description
Students planning to enter this major will experience a comprehensive dance education with opportunities for cultural enrichment, choreography, performance, and teaching in a variety of genres. Students can pair this major with a variety of minors to enhance their marketability.

Cost: University-wide costs (Visit the CWU Financial Aid site for more information. Additional course fees are $5-10. Some additional costs may include the purchase of specialized shoes and attire for classes and performances.

Course Planning
We encourage all students to have prior dance technique experience before applying to the Dance Major.
Students interested in transferring to the Dance major at CWU should complete one of the AA-DTA degrees available from any of Washington’s community colleges.
The Transfer Equivalency Site (TES)provides CWU equivalencies for courses at other colleges and universities.
Advising Notes
- Students are encouraged to complete a DTA (Direct Transfer Agreement) before admission to the degree.
- Any Washington state DTA (Direct Transfer Agreement) degree will satisfy all general education requirements.
- All students applying to the major must successfully complete 6 credits in any of the required core courses, including one technique class, before admission to the Dance major.
- Students can apply to the Dance major any quarter but should meet with Professor McNeillie to make sure it's a good fit for them.
- Students must receive a letter grade of C or higher for all courses in the major.
- All Dance major candidates must have a minimum of 3 credits in Dance Performance, which is by audition only, in order to complete the major.
- All Dance major candidates must attend one professional conference in their field of study while pursuing the major.
- Major requirements may change over time; students will be expected to meet the catalog requirements in place at the time they are admitted to the major.
