Advising Notes

  • Prospective students must complete NUTR 101, Introduction to Human Nutrition, NUTR 240, Introduction to Foods and NUTR 240LAB, Introduction to Foods Laboratory with a B (3.0) or higher, and CHEM 111, Introduction to Chemistry and CHEM 111LAB, Introductory Chemistry Laboratory with a C (2.0) or higher before being admitted into the major.
  • Transfer students should apply to be a pre-major in the BS Food Science and Nutrition program prior to completing NUTR 240L.  The pre-major status would allow assignment of a faculty major advisor.
  • Students must receive a grade of C (2.0) or higher in all other major courses.
  • All students should also meet with the department’s professional academic advisor Pat Coffey (Patrick.Coffey@cwu.edu).
  • Any Washington state DTA (Direct Transfer Agreement) degree will satisfy all general education requirements.
  • Major requirements may change over time; students will be expected to meet the catalog requirements in place at the time they are admitted to the major.
