Letter from the CWU Alumni Association January 2022

Happy New Year, Wildcats! We hope that your 2022 is already off to a great start, and we look forward to seeing you at events and back on campus throughout the year.

One of our biggest events of the year is back in person this year, and it’s going to be unlike any event we have held in the past. The Distinguished Alumni Awards are scheduled for Friday, May 13, and this year it will take place on the Alumni Plaza with music, appetizers, beverages, and, of course, the recognition of several outstanding Wildcats. We are still calling for nominations for 4 Under 40, Distinguished Alumni, or Legacy Awards, so submit a nomination for the Wildcats you know who have made an impact on their industries, communities, alma mater, and others lives around the world.

On December 21, CWU Alumni from Bale Breaker Brewing Company brewed a special alumni ale for the Wildcat Nation! Continuing our AlumnIPA series, CWU Craft Brewing Alumni Casey Stephenson and Dimitri Kupanoff developed a unique AlumnIPA recipe and can’t wait to share it with you. This month we are hosting two release parties, the first at Bale Breaker’s Yakima location on January 14, and the second at the Ballard location on January 22. We will have a raffle for door prizes and limited number of custom CWU-branded pint glasses available for you to take home. Both events are free, and all ages are welcome. Invite your friends to join the party on Facebook by visiting our Yakima Release Party or Seattle Release Party event pages.

Our CWU Alumni Team is hiring! Have you or someone you know considered returning to CWU as an employee? We are currently recruiting an associate director of alumni programs to connect with CWU alumni, engage volunteer leaders, and design alumni experiences to grow the Wildcat Nation. We are also seeking qualified candidates to become our newest alumni engagement coordinators, who will work closely with the rest of the CWU Alumni Association team and their respective college to build alumni engagement within the academic departments.

Learn more or apply today by visiting careers.cwu.edu. Please share our open positions with your networks as we search for team members who will play a role in growing our Wildcat Nation, with many more CWU and University Advancement positions opening soon. CWU is an EEO/AA/Title IX/Veteran/Disability Employer.

We are excited to be bringing back home basketball hospitality at select home games this season! All current CWU Alumni Association and Wildcat Athletic Association members have access to the Pat Lacey Room upstairs in Nicholson Pavilion to enjoy food and beverages in-between the men’s and women’s games and again during halftime of men’s games. Make sure your alumni membership is current, or donate to the Wildcat Athletic Association so that you and one guest can join us.

The FY21 University Advancement Impact Report is now available and includes results of alumni engagement from the 2021 fiscal year. View the report as an online flipping book to see an overview of alumni association engagement, as well as the different ways we have engaged constituents over the last year.

We are looking forward to many of our events having the option of being in person and online this year to ensure easy access for all Wildcats to join us. We look forward to seeing you soon and Go Cats!
