Your Questions Answered

When Should You Start Applying for College?

To give yourself enough time and reduce extra stress, we recommend starting your college application during the summer before your senior year of high school, ensuring you have plenty of time to explore different schools, connect with admissions counselors, request letters of recommendation, and complete your other action items. Most application deadlines are in the fall, between November and February. However, some colleges may have early decision or early action deadlines in October or November.

How Much Does It Cost to Apply for College?

Depending on the college or university you apply to, you may need to pay an application fee. These fees can quickly add up when applying to numerous schools, so please remember to plan accordingly. Central Washington University requires a $60 non-refundable application fee for undergraduate students. However, a fee waiver is available for those with financial needs.

How Can I Get Fee Waivers for College Applications?

Don’t let any financial barriers keep you from applying to your dream school. Many colleges will waive application fees for students who demonstrate financial need. Your first step is to talk to your high school counselor to determine if you are eligible for these waivers. They can also assist you with the application process.

Additionally, you can reach out to the college or university’s office of admissions to find out more about fee waiver eligibility and how to request one.
