The Purpose of the Executive Committee
The Executive Committee serves as the coordinating and advisory body of the Faculty Senate, providing leadership continuity, institutional memory, and support for the effective organization of Senate work. Composed of Senate officers, elected Senators, and past leadership, the committee advances shared governance and fulfills its responsibilities in accordance with established Faculty Senate policies.
Through collaboration, long-term perspective, and institutional memory, the committee helps advance the work of shared governance and supports the Faculty Senate in fulfilling its academic and governance responsibilities.
The committee is composed of the Chair of the Faculty Senate, the Chair-Elect, six elected Senators, and the immediate past Chair of the Senate. Should the immediate past Chair be unable to serve, the most recent past Senate Chair available shall be called to serve in this capacity. In all cases, the past Senate Chair—whether immediate or appointed—serves as a voting member of the Executive Committee, independent of current Faculty Senate membership.
Meetings:
The EC meets every Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 PM, except for the weeks when Faculty Senate meets.
