About Us
The CWU Grounds department is responsible for the routine landscape maintenance of all outdoor spaces on Central’s 402-acre campus. The staff also designs and installs new landscape and irrigation systems and refurbishes older landscape features with sustainable designs.
The majority of our services include:

Donald L. Garrity Japanese Garden
CWU is home to the Donald L. Garrity Japanese Garden. Built in 1991 by designer Masa Mizuno and CWU staff, this 30,000 square foot garden is a unique feature in the heart of Central’s campus.
Tree Campus Higher Education
Central Washington University has been a Tree Campus Higher Education University, since 2019. The Tree Campus Higher Education program helps colleges and universities establish and sustain healthy community forests.
