Student Union Operations Departments

Student Union Operations departments work to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, faculty, and the community. With the student experience at the forefront of our operations, we strive to provide an environment that is designed to encourage interaction among the campus groups, increase a sense of campus community, and expand the avenues through which the University educates its students.
  • Scheduling Services

    Scheduling Services provides reservation and resource management for all non-academic activities occurring on campus. Scheduling Services works with clients to coordinate events ranging from week-long conferences, weekly department meetings, university signature events, and celebrations.

  • Event Support Services

    Event Support Services (ESS) provides technical and event staffing inside the Student Union facility.

    ESS's efficient and professional production staff will help create a memorable event. From small intimate meetings to large social gatherings, ESS will provide you with the latest event innovations and excellent customer service.

    ESS also supports events in the community and around campus through rentals of high-quality, competitively priced technology and equipment.


  • Information Center

    The Information Center is here to help make your visit to Central Washington University and enjoyable one. Located on the first floor of the SURC. We will provide you with information, directions and maps. We are available to help anyone - students, staff, faculty, and the community. 

    If you have questions or concerns we are happy to help provide an answer, assist you in finding one, or put you in touch with a campus or community member to assist you.

  • Custodial & Maintenance

    The Custodial and Maintenance staff work year-round to ensure the Student Union and Dining areas are in tip-top shape.

    Custodial staff focuses on prompt and timely response to building cleanliness and managing deep-cleaning projects during the breaks. 

    The Maintenance team oversees day-to-day building structure and integrity, collaborates with Facility management for specialized building projects, and has oversight of building contracted services.

  • Building Managers

    Building managers are always available during operational hours and are more than happy to assist building guests. Building Managers provide room set-up, event support, building security and logistical coordination in the the case of an emergency.

Building Partners

The Student Union, along with the following building partners, provides oversight and governance of the SURC. Ran independently from one another, together these departments make up the Student Union and Recreation Center.
  • Recreation Center

    The University Recreation Center is committed to offering recreation programs that provide personal and professional development for a diverse university community.

  • Dining

    Dining options at CWU are numerous, offering both residential and a la carte dining at multiple venues, including in the SURC. 

  • Wildcat Shop
    The Wildcat Shop is CWU's bookstore.

    From textbooks and general book selection to apparel, electronics and supplies, the Wildcat Shop truly has something for everyone—including a custom publishing department. 

Departments in the SURC

These departments are located within the SURC. These departments are committed to providing students with a central source and location for services related to their success, involvement, and engagement while at CWU.

    The Associated Students of Central Washington University, better known as ASCWU, is comprised of six elected student officers who work to represent all students equally and fairly and to ensure that their voices are heard. From facilities to academics, the ASCWU Student Government helps advocate for student concerns and creates programs to make the CWU experience more memorable. Each officer has a unique specialization representing the student body across campus.

  • Campus Visits / Early College Outreach

    Campus Visits and Early College Outreach offer prospective students an unforgettable in-person campus tour. Discover the opportunities that await you and envision yourself as a proud Wildcat. Tours and visits are also available for high school, middle school, and elementary school students.

  • Connection Card

    Your CWU Connection Card is your key to experiencing campus as a CWU student, faculty, or staff member. Connection Card services, such as printing your identification card, replacing a lost or damaged card, and adding money to Wildcat Bucks, are now being fulfilled from the SURC Info Center.

  • KCWU-FM, 88.1 the 'Burg

    88.1 the 'Burg is an out-of-classroom learning laboratory utilizing a real-world broadcast environment to foster lifelong communication, public speaking, workplace accountability, teamwork, and leadership skills important for successful citizenship and success in any chosen career.

  • OPR - Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals

    OPR offers regularly scheduled guided excursions as well as outdoor equipment rentals and special programs for CWU students.

  • Publicity Center

    The Publicity Center is the go-to creative agency for promoting campus events, we take our work seriously and have fun doing it!

    SLICE - Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement

    SLICE provides CWU students with leadership, service, and personal development opportunities throughout the year.

  • SURC & Club Accounting

    SUC & Club Accounting is responsible for financial oversight of S&A and SURC fee funds.

  • US Bank

    This US Bank branch office offers a full slate of financial services, from checking and savings accounts to credit/loan applications and processing. Additionally, US Bank offers the CWU Maxx Card, linked to students’ Connection Card for convenience.

  • Wellness Center

    The Wellness Center promotes positive health behaviors and encourages social connections that support student success.
