Sustainability and Our Partners

Sustainability is central to Dining Service's activities.

We reduce disposable items use when possible, and we source almost all of our disposable items from World Centric, a compostable and zero-waste product producer.

We support and receive fresh, seasonal produce from the Wildcat Farm, an organic and sustainable six-acre farm located right here on campus.

Future initiatives include:

  • Regular food waste audits
  • Pre-consumer waste composting at the Wildcat Farm
  • Post-consumer waste composting at the Wildcat Farm

Menus of Change University Resource Collaborative (MCURC).

Dining services is proud to be a member of MCURC, a collaboration of forward-thinking scholars, food-service leaders, executive chefs, and administrators for colleges and universities who are accelerating efforts to move people toward healthier, more sustainable, and delicious foods using evidence-based research, education, and innovation.

The Wildcat Pantry and Food Recovery

The Wildcat Pantry in Brooks Library 101C is a free resource for CWU students, faculty, and staff to access food and hygiene products.

Wildcat Food Recovery was developed to better meet the needs of our students and campus community. Overseen by our Operations Support Manager, everyday meals from Holmes Dining Room are repackaged and distributed to the Library and Black Hall pantry locations.

Wildcats can volunteer to repackage meals. All you need is a food handler's card! Take part in our efforts to provide greater sustenance to more people while reducing our waste footprint.

Visit The Wildcat Pantry website for additional information and resources.
