Wildcat Academic Mentoring (WAM) is a program created to support students in academics as well as emotional and mental wellness. WAM focuses on trauma-informed care and student support by helping and encouraging students with:

  • Time management
  • Motivation
  • Reading tips
  • Note-taking strategies
  • Test prep
  • Wellness and self care journeys

For additional information on academic resources, theories, skills, & strategies, check out our Learning Resources.

The Learning Commons is offering Wildcat Academic Mentoring for Fall 2022. We have extended afternoon hours and enhanced services to help you!

Here's how to get started...

  • To set up an appointment, go to Retain and use your CWU credentials to log in.
  • On your Retain dashboard, select the red "Wildcat Academic Mentoring" tab in the upper right corner.
  • Choose an intake meeting time that works best for you, and then complete the pre-intake form. Intake meetings are only 20 minutes and focus on getting to know you and your needs for the quarter.

The only thing you need to participate in mentoring is a desire to grow. Your first meeting will be an intake appointment in which you will be matched with your mentor. We encourage students to schedule recurring mentoring appointments. Experience shows that students who visit more often see an improvement in their GPA.

Mentoring sessions are highly individualized and your mentor will help you create strategies specifically tailored to you. All appointments are based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
