Dionysia and James Pappas Study Abroad Scholarship

In 2024-2025 no scholarship was awarded.

Overview: To provide financial support for students who are participating in an education abroad program. 
  • November 1 is the application deadline all short-term winter and spring programs, such as CWU faculty-directed programs, internships, and service-learning/volunteer programs.
  • May 1 is the application deadline for all quarter, semester, and yearlong programs, such as CWU exchange programs and third-party sponsored education abroad programs and all short-term summer programs, such as CWU faculty-directed programs, internships, and service-learning/volunteer programs.
Qualifications
  • Applicant must have an approved CWU Education Abroad Application by the scholarship application deadline
  • Applicant must have a GPA 3.0 or higher.
  • Applicant must have earned at least 24 credit hours.

Dustin J. Kidd Japanese Language Scholarship

In 2024-2025 $1,594 was awarded to one student.

Overview: To provide financial support for students majoring in Japanese, who nave entered second year Japanese study, and with a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must be accepted in the Japanese program.
  • Applicant must have a cumulative CWU GPA of 2.5 or better

Fiorella and Carlos Martin Scholarship

In 2024-2025 $1,299 was awarded to one student.

Overview: To provide financial support for junior or senior students participating in a study abroad program through the CWU Office of international studies. Minimum GPA is 3.0. Preference for students who have a major or minor in world languages.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must plan to study abroad.
  • Applicant must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
  • Applicant must have earned at least 76 credit hours.

Morgan M. Bresett Brown German Scholarship

In 2024-2025 $2,000 was awarded to one student.

Overview: To provide support for students who enroll in a study abroad program in a German speaking country.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must enroll in a study abroad program to a German speaking country.

Rosco and NaDine Tolman Study Abroad Scholarship

In 2024-2025 $3,586 was awarded to two students.

Overview: To provide financial support for a full-time student with a declared major in the Department of World Languages and Cultures. Recipient must be accepted in an approved study abroad program. Applicants must be at least a second year language student, GPA of 3.0 or better. Preference for students with demonstrated financial need.

  • Applicant must plan to study abroad.
  • Applicant must major in a World Languages and Cultures program.
  • Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicant must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
