Advising for New and Transfer Students


Advising Information for Incoming Students

Once you are accepted into a Major or Minor program, or near to declaring one, you will have a Faculty Mentor and an Academic Advisor. We work as a team to help you in your academic journey.

The Faculty Mentor will address topics such as:

  • Course choices and specialization within the major
  • Career pathways within that discipline
  • Internships, Research and other opportunities
  • Mentoring and letters of recommendation
  • Progress to degree completion and graduation

The  Academic Advisor will address topics such as:

  • General Education (basic and breadth) requirements
  • Progress to degree completion and graduation
  • General academic planning
  • Academic warning/ probation/ suspension
  • Advising holds
