Which Language Class is Right for Me?

Select an option below that best describes your situation

I have college credit in the language, including College in the High School or AP/IB score

  • Great job - now you have fewer courses to take! Reach out to your academic advisor to establish exact equivalences. World Languages advisor is Taylor Brunwald: taylor.brunwald@cwu.edu
  • Make sure your transfer credit report has been processed by CWU Registrar. If your transfer credit has not yet been processed, email us for support: worldlanguages@cwu.edu

I have a Washington State Seal of Biliteracy on my high school transcript

  • Congratulations on your advanced language skills! You are likely to place in the upper division 300 level class. Contact us for placement or World Language Requirement Waiver: worldlanguages@cwu.edu

The language is part of my heritage - I grew up with the language or I have lived in a place where the language is spoken

I studied the language in high school or another setting, including on my own, but did not receive college credit

  • Good news is - no matter how your studied the language - it counts!
  • If you are confident you do not need to start from scratch in any language, contact us for instructions via Webcape Language Placement Exam or Interview: worldlanguages@cwu.edu
  • If taking a Web Exam, make sure to send your purchase receipt to us before scheduling.
  • Placement test scores do NOT allow you to enroll in the class you placed in. To enroll in a course above 151 level, you must contact us.
