Testing Information
About Placement Tests
Quite a few College in the High School classes require certain placement test scores in order for students to be eligible for the class.
Testing must be completed before registrations are submitted. If prerequisites are not met through CWU, Reviewers at the high school must upload individual official score reports for the other tests (ACT, SAT, etc.), or individual unofficial college transcripts for grade/credit.
For Math Placement
Many high schools are set up to offer the ACCUPLACER placement test through CWU. These exams are computer-adaptive tests designed to assist accurate placement into appropriate courses. Students will receive test results immediately upon completion of testing. Talk with the proctor or teacher about qualifying scores.
Students need to take the Accuplacer CWU Math Exam_NG, which is an adaptive test and will deliver two scores. It starts with the Quantitiative Reasoning, Algebra & Statistics (QRAS) and depending on how the student does, it will move them up to Advanced Algebra and Functions (AAF) or shift them to Arithmetic. The NG Arithmetic score is not accepted to meet any prerequisite for any CWU CiHS course. Only QRAS and AAF scores are accepted.
Students who are using CWU Testing Services through their school do not need to provide copies of their scores sheets, but the Reviewer does need to add the scores into the registration platform.

English Directed Self-Placement
Students interested in ENG 101 need to take the survey and self-place into the course instead of using placement testing. See more information below.
Prerequisites
If prerequisites were met through CWU classes, we have access to that data. If testing was accomplished through CWU Testing Services, then we have direct access to confirm the scores (for one year from when the test was taken). Schools do not have to submit transcripts or test score sheets if the source is CWU.
Any student(s) who are utilizing test scores from an outside agency must provide a copy of their results with their registration. Examples include SBA, AP, SAT, ACT, ALEKS, APTP (MPT), Compass, Accuplacer (if not taken through CWU).
Keep in mind...
- Accuplacer NG testing fees for English placement is no longer covered for FRLP students by CiHS; please have students use the no-cost option of the English Self Placement Survey (above).
- English teachers cannot proctor for the English test, and Math teachers cannot proctor for the math test.
