Active Learning and Classrooms

We encourage students, faculty, and staff to take full advantage of the resources the Multimodal Learning Department provides including the Active Learning Classrooms (Samuelson 129 & 131) Below is a general Room Use Policy and request process for these unique learning environments:

Active Learning Classroom Use Policy and Form

Requests for individual class or instructional sessions will be reviewed and scheduled for ALCs on a case-by-case basis, pending space availability.

  • Requests for these rooms are based primarily on pedagogical development.
  • Classrooms have a set maximum class size of 40; no exceptions.
  • Reservations may only be made for the current term and following term and may not exceed one term in length. Exceptions may be made for campus units and special meetings.
  • Approximately 3-4 weeks prior to a quarter’s start, instructors will have the opportunity to email MML to request an ALC.
  • Use of an ALC in prior quarters does not necessarily give priority for future use.
  • Instructors/ Facilitators agree to take part in a technology consultation and training session at least one week prior to first class date.
  • Tech support may be available during MML’s normal office hours, 9AM – 5PM, but cannot be guaranteed unless you schedule with a staff member.
