Master Online Mentorship Certification
The Office of Multimodal Learning offers faculty the opportunity to earn a Master Online Mentorship certification that may be used as evidence of professional development and teaching effectiveness for a performance review (subject to Chair and Dean approval).
Faculty who are accepted into the program and complete all of the following requirements for certification will receive a $2,500 stipend:
Requirements
Pre-Requisites
- Faculty pursuing the Master Online Mentorship Certification must have completed all the requirements for the Master Online Teacher Certification (MOTC).
- Faculty must be teaching at least two online course during the academic year they are pursuing certification.
General Requirements
Note: These can be customized to meet faculty interest and specialization- Complete the Master Online Mentor asynchronous course
- The course provides a refresher on planning, design & development and implementation with active teaching strategies for online learning and universal design for learning. The course houses resource guides for mentor to use throughout the process.
- Individual Mentorship
- Connect with CWU Mentee
- Develop plan of action for online course development
- Schedule mentor check-ins and utilize resource documents as benchmarks
- Complete online course review of newly developed course
- Group Mentorship
- Develop workshop with online teaching focus
- Facilitate workshop 3x per term
- Create on-demand version of workshop
- Participate as a MML Liason to a department
- Online Course Reviews
- Complete three online course reviews on behalf of MML in an academic year (i.e. across Fall, Winter, Spring quarters) generally taking 6-12 hours of dedicated time per course and coordinating feedback with peer instructor
- Continuing Development
- In the year following completion of the Mentorship Certification, act as an MML-sponsored mentor for your academic department assisting with course development, review, and learning tool implementation and pilots.
- Faculty who have completed the aforementioned requirements will be invited to complete additional peer course reviews on behalf of MML at an additional reward of $300 per course reviewed.
