Student Advising Resources

Academic Calendar, Student Catalogs, and Handbook

The Office of the Registrar posts the annual Academic Calendar, Catalog, and Student Handbook. The Student Handbook is a particularly helpful guide to navigating CWU systems and procedures.

CWU Catalog

The official CWU catalog lists all academic requirements and program/course descriptions. Academic requirements can vary based on the year a student is admitted to CWU or an academic program. Check with your department or advisor to determine which year your requirements are under.

CWU General Education Program

Learn more about the General Education Program and requirements, including specific program learning objectives and course options.

How to Enroll in Classes

Steps to Add/Drop a Class can be found on the Registrar.

Plan your schedule using MyScheduler.

Additional Resources and Support

Check on the Learning Commons for tutoring, academic coaching, and homework help.

The Assessment and Learning in Knowledge Space (ALEKS) test is an adaptive test that assesses students' preparedness for college-level math. ALEKS is the preferred math placement test for CWU for placement into courses that have a math requirement.

Determine which writing course you will need to take using a Directed Self-Placement (DSP) and find the class that best fits your needs and experience.

Other Advising Services

CAMP

CAMP is the College Assistance Migrant Program. It is a special program offered by Central Washington University that provides financial and academic support services to freshman students from migrant and seasonal farm working backgrounds.

CAMP is designed to help students' success as they begin their college careers. Camp students are eligible for a variety of services, which include financial support, academic assistance, career planning services, and cultural enrichment opportunities.

TRIO Student Support Services

TRIO Student Support Services serves first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities by providing holistic advising, individual success plans, academic support, tutoring, workshops, and opportunities to attend events. Our goal is to support students all the way to graduation and help them prepare for entering the work force or graduate school.

TRIO SSS can only provide advising services to admitted participants of the program. We are currently full for Fall 2023, but we still encourage students to apply, in case a spot opens up: https://www.cwu.edu/academics/academic-resources/academic-achivement/trio-application.php
