Out of State Licensed Mental Health Counselor Disclosure
Central Washington University makes every effort to determine whether or not programs resulting in professional licensure or certification are recognized outside of Washington State.
Students are also encouraged to be proactive, as certification and licensure requirements vary by state and over time, and licensing board and contact information are provided on the primary licensure disclosure webpage.
The table below collects programs identified by CWU as leading to or endorsing mental health counseling licensure which may be considered for out-of-state recognition:
Program Identification
College of the Sciences
Authorization Disclosure
Although CWU's Mental Health Counseling program is CACREP-accredited, the university has made the determiniation that at this time it does not meet the requirements for direct transferrence of practice to any states or territories outside of Washington State.
The American Counseling Association (ACA) is currently introducing legislature which may change this determiniation, but it has not taken effect as of September 2021.
Students who are interested in out-of-state practice should review the ACA's state by state report of licensure requirements and are encouraged to contact their state authority via the NC-SARA counseling directory for more information.
