Declaring Physics Major
Degree Options
We have several distinct career-focused degree tracks including
- Physics BS,
- Physics BA,
- Physics BS with Biophysics Specialization,
- and the Physics/Engineering Dual Degree Program.

Declaring Your Major
Once you decide on a degree track, you can declare a Physics Major by going online and following these steps:
- Go to my.CWU.edu and sign in with your CWU credentials.
- Click on the Student tab.
- In the left-hand menu, select Records.
- Click Request to Apply/Drop Major/Minor.
- Fill out the form and select the correct program code for you major. The program codes for each of our major programs are:
- PHYSBA – Physics BA major
- PHYSBS – Physics BS major with the following specialization codes:
- GEPH – General program (Standard Physics B.S. degree).
- BIOP – Biophysics Specialization
- ENGR - Engineering Specialization (Physics/Engineering Dual Degree program)
Academic Advising in Physics
Once you declare a Physics Major, you have two key advising resources that can help you with plan your academic schedule and answer questions about classes, registration, careers, and more:
- Academic Advisor: Jayden Alexander advises all Physics Majors and Pre-Majors, helping with course planning and connecting you to university resources. Email Jayden at jayden.alexander@cwu.edu to schedule a meeting.
- Faculty Mentor: Each Physics Major is assigned a faculty mentor, listed in MyCWU, for career guidance and elective recommendations. You can also reach out to any Physics faculty member for advice.
