General Education Component Areas

The General Education Populated Framework provides a current list of courses for each component area as distributed across the program, and is updated annually. Each student's General Education program is displayed in their academic requirements report.

The framework identifies the beginning, middle, and end of the program as Component Areas: First Year Experience, Knowledge Areas & Pathways, and Culminating Experience. Component Areas are populated with their respective courses.

The current General Education Framework encompasses the most recent changes to the classes that are offered to students to fulfill different component areas of the general education program.

The previous General Education Framework shows the previous offerings available to fulfill component area requirements of the GenEd program. While this is not the most up-to-date information regarding the class offerings for each area, it is available for your reference to ensure you are able to see the ways we are constantly adjusting the program to best serve CWU students.

The main framework component areas have elements with the exception of the Culminating Experience.

Knowledge Areas & Pathways (Explore & Connect)

Knowledge Areas & Pathways, there are eight Knowledge Area elements and six Pathway elements.

Culminating Experience (Connect, Create, & Empathize)

Culminating Experience is its own element.
