High Impact Learning

High-impact practices (also known as HIPs) are incorporated into our General Education classes and all our English majors, including writing-intensive courses, collaborative assignments and projects, diversity and global learning, undergraduate research, portfolio of academic work, and practicum/internship to prepare you with career-ready skills.

Select your English major below to view a list of the high-impact practices in each required and elective class.

The American Association of Universities and Colleges (AAC&U) provides descriptions of all the high-impact practices.
