Online School Administrator Certificate Program


For educators who have taught for 3 years and already hold a master’s degree. 

Note: If you do not have a master’s degree and have taught for one year check out our M.Ed in School Administration and earn both your master’s and your principal certification at the same time. MEd in School Administration

The School Administrator Certification Program (ACP) at Central Washington University (CWU) prepares educational leaders in the role of residency principal or program administrator to assume management and instructional responsibilities needed to facilitate learning in a diverse world. Focusing on the nature, theory, principles, and practices of administration in the educational setting, the program has been designed for experienced teachers, department chairs, consultants, supervisors, curriculum leaders, and subject area specialists who have indicated an interest in considering educational administration as a career or who wish to develop an understanding of the administrative process.

*Please note the Administrator Certificate Program requires two applications: one to CWU as a PostBac and one to the program through the Administrator Certificate Program Application linked below:

-Master’s degree, 3.0 GPA last 90 credits
- 3 years of teaching

Curriculum


Course Requirements for the Residency Principalship Certification

The Residency Principalship Certification prepares you for the position of building principal. The building principal, who has line responsibility, works directly with the instructional program and student supervision and provides input and direction to district-wide concerns of policy-making, fiscal management, planning, and curriculum. The building principal, under the supervision of the Superintendent, and in compliance with established policies of the school district, is responsible for planning, management, supervision, and evaluation of the educational program of a particular attendance area or administrative unit.

* EDAD 582 may be waived for certification at the discretion of the Program Director.

** The internship begins during Pre-Autumn (EDAD 692) and continues with the Internship during the academic quarters (EDAD 693)

Course Requirements for the Program Administrator Special Education Certification

The Program Administrator in Special Education Certification prepares you for the position of Program Administrator. The Program Administrator has staff responsibility for managing the technical aspects of the curriculum and instructional program. This staff position carries functional authority which is technical and advisory. The program administrator assists in clarifying directions and goals of specified educational activities. These functions are usually performed by persons in positions responsible for curriculum development and the supervision of instruction, and therefore, represent service more than administrative authority.

Residency Principal Tuition Cost $9948.68*

*With the use of the State Employee Fee Waiver. Without the State Employee Fee Waiver, program tuition is $12080.54.

** State Employee Fee Waiver exclusions are listed on the form. The Fee Waiver can not be used for the following courses: EDAD 579, 575, 692, 693

*Registration in excess of 17 credits negates any waiver benefits

Program Administrator Tuition Cost $7816.82*

*With the use of the State Employee Fee Waiver. Without the State Employee Fee Waiver, program tuition is $11725.23.
