Sample Flexwork Schedules

Flexwork Schedule Options

Flexwork is a commonly-used term for an alternate work schedule. The employee works the same number of monthly hours, but other than a 8-5, Monday through Friday workweek. Flexwork may be as simple as an adjusted start or end time, or an adjusted lunch hour. It may be as complex as a "4/10 schedule" (working four 10-hour days, with day 5 as a day off), also referred to as a compressed workweek.

Flexwork is not for everyone. Certain positions have responsibilities that would be adversely affected by such a schedule change, while others have no such problems. After a preliminary examination of an employee's situation, the Flexwork Feasibility Form (PDF) may be useful.

5-DAY OPTIONS "Flextime"

5, 8-hour days w/ hour lunch

Start Time -7:00am
End Time -4:00 pm

5, 8-hour days w/ half hour lunch

Start Timem -9:00 am
End Time -5:30 pm

4-DAY OPTIONS "Compressed Workweek"

4, 10-hour days w/ hour lunch

Start Time -7:00 am
End Time -6:00 pm

4, 10-hour days w/ half hour lunch

Start Time -8:00 am
End Time -6:30 pm

4, 9-hour days + one 4-hour day w/ hour lunches

Start Time -8:00 am
End Time -6:00 pm

4, 9-hour days + one 4-hour day w/ half hour lunches

Start Time -8 - noon
End Time -7:30 am
Plus 1 day per week -8 - noon
