Developing Our New Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan

During the 2021-2022 academic year, the Central Washington University community began working collaboratively and inclusively to develop a new Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan. Over the next 18 months, the university community came together to develop a comprehensive plan, centered around equity and belonging, that will carry us into the five to 10 years.

Our Vision statement provides and aspirational direction for where we want to go as a university, while our Mission statement captures the essence of who we are and why our work matters. Our Strategic Plan, approved by the Board of Trustees at the end of the 2022-23 academic year, will provide the roadmap for getting us to where we aspire to go as a university.

In order to achieve these ambitious goals, a Steering Committee comprised of members from all employee groups and the student body was comprised to guide our work. The committee offered regular opportunities for engagement through surveys and open forums and shared their work on the CWU to engage all members of the Wildcat community. We sought from across the university community throughout the process, and after the final versions were approved by the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees, they have been put into action.

We look forward to seeing where our Vision, Mission, and Strategic Plan work takes Central Washington University in the years to come. Our ability to live into this new direction will depend on involvement from every member of the university community, and we welcome your feedback as we put in the work required to create a succesful future for our students, faculty and staff, as well as the communities we serve.
