Every March, the world comes together to celebrate Women’s History Month as a way to recognize and elevate women’s contributions to history, culture, and society.

This week and throughout the month, CWU is commemorating those achievements with several events and exhibitions across campus and online.

The schedule of events kicked off Monday with Women in Arts and from Asia, a panel exploring the lived experiences of faculty members who are Asian women artists in the U.S. across a variety of mediums, including painting, composing, and performing.

From Wednesday, March 4, through Saturday, March 7, the Museum of Culture and Environment will feature Foundational: Buildings Named for CWU Women, a digital exhibit exploring the many women Wildcats who have helped shape our university over the past 135 years.

On Friday, March 6, Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement (SLICE) will host the Power of You Conference in the SURC Ballroom from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will focus on personal growth, skill-building, and connection, featuring keynote speakers, workshops, breakout sessions, refreshments, and networking opportunities.

Sunday, March 8, is International Women’s Day, which has been celebrated in various forms across the world for more than a century. This day provides a chance to reflect on the hard work and sacrifice that is required to move the fight for gender equality forward one step at a time. This International Women’s Day, CWU invites you to explore the history of the movement, and the work yet to be done to achieve a just and equitable world for people of all genders.

Throughout the month of March, curated collections highlighting women’s history will be on display on the first and second floors of Brooks Library. The CWU community is also encouraged to check out The Foundational Walking Tour: A Self-Guided Tour of the Buildings Named for CWU Women online all month long.
