Annual SOURCE conference kicks off Wednesday across campus

The 2023 Symposium of University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) is taking place at Central Washington University this Wednesday and Thursday, and the campus community is invited to attend.

The opening reception is Wednesday, May 17, at 8:30 a.m. in the SURC Ballroom, with department-specific events scheduled across campus both days.

SOURCE is a university-wide annual event that showcases research, scholarship, and creative activities across all disciplines by students, faculty, and staff, along with members of the local community.

The annual conference-which returned to being an in-person event last year-provides an opportunity for CWU students to showcase their work and develeop confidence in presenting in front of their colleagues and peers.

Judges are also needed to evaluate the students' posters and oral presentations. If you would like to help, you can sign up online (note: must have a CWU ID to log in).

"Your leadership in engaging your students to participate everywhere along this continuum and to guide them to the next step is crucial in making the most out of the SOURCE event and embodying high-impact practices," interim Director of the Office of University Student Research (OUR) Christy Gilchrist said in an email to campus last week. "It is an opportunity that many will appreciate and benefit from for years to come."

In addition to highlighting CWU students' work, SOURCE:

• Celebrates the depth and diversity of scholarly inquiry and creative expression at CWU
• Shares the accomplishments of students in all disciplines and on all campuses with the community
• Recognizes outstanding scholarly work and creative activities
• Fosters connections between students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members and employers that help students develop as professionals in their field
