SOURCE Schedule and Event Details

 

Please see below for the schedule and event details for SOURCE 2023. To make navigating SOURCE easier, we are excited to introduce the EventMobi app which you'll be able to use to view presentation schedules, build your own agenda for each day, and participate in this year's Scavenger Hunt! There will be prizes for students who earn the most points (achieved by attending various sessions of SOURCE and scanning the scavenger hunt codes) including a gorgeous diploma frame from the Wildcat Shop, a mini Dakine backback, or one of two Hydroflasks.

Day 1: Wednesday - May 17th, 2023

 

8:30am-10:00am

Opening Session - SURC Ballroom/SURC Pit

We're kicking off SOURCE in style! The opening session will include music from our very own 88.1 The 'Burg, an inspiring keynote from Distinguished Professor of Biology and STEM Education Dr. Ian Quitadomo, and a fashion show preview hosted by CWU's Apparel, Textiles, and Merchandising department all accompanied by light breakfast items and beverages.

Poster Session #1 - Brooks Library

Poster Session #2 - Brooks Library

Come interact with your peers and learn about the projects they are working on across all disciplines here at CWU. The Library will host most of the posters, with Hogue Tech hosting presentations from our Engineering students. The posters and presentations will be displayed in two separate one-hour sessions, so make plans to attend both!

2:30pm-5:00pm

Talks, Performances, and Exhibitions - SURC/Discovery Hall/Samuelson Hall/Randall Hall/YouTube

Wander around the CWU campus to experience a variety of presentations including research talks, dance performances, spoken word poetry, artwork displays, live demonstrations, and so much more! A detailed list is provided in the link above for where and when each of the presentations is scheduled so that you can plan your afternoon accordingly.

College Open Houses

New to SOURCE this year: College Open Houses! Each college will host an open house offering a peek into the interactive and innovative methods and projects (high impact practices) faculty are using to teach here at CWU. Learn more about each college and the programs they offer, and see what their faculty are passionate about.

  • College of the Sciences - Discovery, Michaelson

Panel Discussions

This is an opportunity to participate in panels hosted by CWU faculty, staff, students, and some special guests!

  • Panel 1 - SURC Theatre: Presentation by Dr. Xyanthe Neider: "Survival is Not Enough: Creating Educational Experiences for Student Thriving" followed by a discussion by CWU Interdisciplinary Faculty.
  • Panel 2 - SURC Ballroom D: A discussion on the CWU student experience covering internships, student clubs and Study Abroad
  • Panel 3 - SURC 137: A discussion about research at CWU from the student perspective

4:00pm-5:30pm

Closing Reception & Awards Ceremony - SURC Ballroom

We'll be concluding SOURCE with our reception and awards ceremony. There will be live music, a dance performance, food and beverages, and of course the awards for outstanding student presentations and faculty mentors. Join us to celebrate all of the hard work that goes into presenting at SOURCE and doing research and creative projects in general!
