Art + Design alumni exhibit opens this week in CWU’s Sarah Spurgeon Gallery

Beginning this week, the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery at Central Washington University will host Crossroads and Connections III, a juried exhibition of artwork in a variety of media by 32 alumni who graduated between 1996 and 2010.

The exhibit is part of an ongoing series showcasing and celebrating the accomplishments of CWU Department of Art + Design graduates.

The opening events will be held Thursday, April 9, beginning with an alumni panel discussion from 4-5 p.m. in Randall Hall, room 117. Lana Robinson (‘18), Lisa Soranaka (‘09), and Jenny Walton (‘01), will share their experiences as arts professionals and offer meaningful advice to current students. A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery (Randall Hall, room 141) directly following the talk.

A closing event, the Alumni Spring Fling, will take place on Saturday, May 2, from 3-6 p.m. in Randall Hall. Art + Design alumni from all graduation classes are invited to reconnect with their former classmates and visit with current faculty, staff, and students from the department.

The exhibit will feature artwork by: Renee Adams, Collins Bonds, Julie Cattin, Jeff Cleveland, Rick Dailey, Denise DeBusk, Olga DeLuca-Engbring, Nathan DiPietro, Daniel Donovan, Karen Doten, Natalie Dotzauer, Stephen Ellis, Jen Erickson, Justin Gibbens, Naomi Gray, David Helsby, Jay Hollick, John Holmgren, Matt Johnson, Monika Lemmon, Cameron Luft, Kate Lund, Ross Lunz, Amirra Malak, Aaron McConnell, James Reiman, Ryan Scully, Lisa Soranaka, Misato Suzuki, Erin Tiedeman, Shannon Tipple-Leen, and Jenny Walton.

Crossroads and Connections III will remain on view through May 2. Sarah Spurgeon Gallery is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays from 1-5 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays and university holidays.
