CWU hosting series of events for Women’s History Month

Women’s History Month, observed every March since 1986, invites us to reflect on the contributions of women throughout our history while celebrating and elevating female voices.
Central Washington University will celebrate with a series events, presentations, and exhibitions exploring a broad range of lived experiences and historical milestones. The event series will be accompanied by a month-long curated collection celebrating Women’s History Month on the first and second floor of Brooks Library.
List of events:
- March 4: Empowered Women in History
- 2 p.m. in Samuelson 105
- Join faculty from the CWU History Department for a conversation about little-known women around the world who demonstrated leadership and strength at multiple levels of society.
- March 6: Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Student Leadership Panel
- 2-3:30 p.m. at the Diversity and Equity Center (DEC) in Black Hall
- Honoring student leaders who are women, Two-Spirit, non-binary, and gender-diverse, many of whom are also people of color.
- March 8: International Women’s Day
- A global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
- March 9: Life’s Fire: CWU Choirs In Concert, featuring female composers
- 4 p.m. in the Hertz Concert Hall in the McIntyre Music Building
- Featuring the CWU Chamber Choir, the University Chorale, Vox Divina, and the CWU Wildcat Chorus.

- Gendered Paradoxes in Modern History: Graduate Perspectives on Motherhood, War, and Ethnicity.
- March 13: Women at Work: Navigating the Construction Industry

- March 14: Women for the Planet: Fostering Connections for a Sustainable Future
- 10:00-11:00 p.m. The Bistro
- March 14: The Women in My Life
- 3 p.m. Mary Grupe Center
- Keynote presentation by Dr. Deena González.
- March 14: Short Films
- 5:30-8 p.m. Gallery One
- Highlighting underrepresented identities, as well as women’s and femme experiences.
All of the events in the series are open to CWU students, staff, and faculty, as well as members of the Ellensburg community.
