Thursday’s ETSC Career Fair expecting record number of employers

The CWU Engineering Technologies, Safety, and Construction (ETSC) program will be hosting more than 100 potential employers in the SURC on Thursday, October 3, for its annual ETSC Career Fair.

With 113 employers filling the SURC Ballroom and rooms 137A and 137B, this week’s fair will be the largest in program history, according to ETSC department chair Greg Lyman.

“As we begin introducing new pathways into the construction industry through our Allied Construction Degrees model, we are building connections with a wide range of companies looking to hire students with these skillsets,” he said. “Our ETSC Career Fair provides a great opportunity for our industry partners to connect with our students, and it continues to get better every year.”

Allied Construction Careers encompass a wide range of professions and occupations in the construction industry. These include occupational safety and health professionals, engineers, risk managers, claims managers, financial officers, accountants, human resource professionals, IT professionals, administrative professionals, project managers, and many others who work collaboratively with construction managers to deliver comprehensive construction services and complete construction projects.

The College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) describes the ETSC Career Fair as a “one-stop shop for construction, engineering, and architectural oriented companies and prospective construction professionals to engage in providing career opportunities for those who want to be fully engaged in the construction industry as a career.”

The career fair serves construction managers while also providing opportunities for specialized construction professionals in safety, information technology, business development, technology applications, supply chain management, and other construction-oriented disciplines to keep the construction industry at the forefront of an application-based STEM-related careers.

Graduates who possess construction management-related skills in scheduling, estimating, safety, engineering applications, and project management are more adapt at being able to provide expanded services and utilize professionals to manage construction in a wide range of construction industry capacities.
