Multimodal Education Center

 

The Multimodal Education Center (MEC) embraces the vision that Technology Empowers Learning. We provide instructional and multimedia technologies, support, and training for all CWU students, faculty, and staff. Our goal is to create opportunities for exploration of emerging technologies, digital media, and innovative learning spaces.

You can find us for Equipment Checkout and Project Consultations in the Samuelson Hall Lobby, or join us to make something new, checkout a workshop or experience Virtual Reality in the Create Lab, Samuelson 126.

Fall 2019 Workshop Schedule:

All workshops are between 2 pm and 3 pm in Samuelson 126

Mondays = Digital Video Editing

Explore the basics of digital movie editing. Create your own viral Youtube sensation, make an art film for your friends, add emotion and excitement to your family videos and more! We'll show you the fundamentals of movie editing with iMovie. Learn how to set up your story, fine-tune footage, and share your movie with the world.

Tuesdays = Virtual Reality Headset Training

Get trained to use the HTC Vive or Hololens and get ready see yourself in an entirely new world! Our weekly virtual reality workshops will open your eyes to cutting-edge experiences in creativity and discovery. You’ll learn the basics of how VR works, get certified to use our HTC Vive, and enter a virtual space where you can change reality through the use of programs like The Lab, Universal Sandbox, Tiltbrush and more!

Wednesdays = Editing Images with Photoshop

Please join the Multimodal Education Center in learning how to take your digital photos from drab to fantastic with our first interactive workshop. We will introduce the basic tools needed to fix and touch-up digital images. You will get hands-on experience with a variety of techniques and tools available in Photoshop. Open to all of the CWU community; space is limited, so we will accommodate the first 25 individuals. No prior knowledge of Photoshop is necessary.

Thursdays = 3D Modeling and Printing

From science fiction to reality! Come get hands-on experience with the technology of the future: 3D printing and modeling. No prior experience  will be necessary as we discuss 3D printing, its uses, and model our very own 3D object.

Fridays = Digital Art for the Laser Cutter

Creating vector art designs that can be cut out of a variety of materials, including paper, cardboard, acrylic or wood!
