Interested in joining the fight against food insecurity? Volunteer at one of our three programs to end hunger.
Wildcat Pantry
The main responsibilities include pantry maintenance and assisting shoppers with check-in/out procedures. Volunteers are encouraged to study, read, and keep themselves busy during downtime.
If volunteering for a class, please contact the Wildcat Pantry Coordinator through the email: wildcatpantry@cwu.edu for forms to be completed.
NOTE: Training is required and shifts are in one-hour increments.
Volunteering Steps
- Reach out to wildcatpantry@cwu.edu email to get added to our Volunteering Teams channel and access to our sign-up sheet for specific time slots on our calendar.
- Attend a training with one of our student employees (training takes approximately 1 hour) and can be completed during the volunteers first shift.
- The Wildcat Pantry encourages on-the-job training, so volunteers have time to ask questions and learn about pantry protocols and food safety within the space.
- Our staff is dedicated to fostering a safe environent. If there are any questions, comments or concerns, please reach out to the Wildcat Pantry Coordinator through wildcatpantry@cwu.edu.
Food Recovery
The food recovery program involves repackaging meals from Holmes Dining and delivering items to our refirgerators across campus. Food recovery volunteer options are Monday through Thursday every week of the academic session.
NOTE: Food Handlers Cards are required for volunteering with Food Recovery. Contact wildcatpantry@cwu.edu for any questions or to sign-up.
Wildcat Farm
The Wildcat Farm has several avenues for involvement from helping grow food for CWU to growing your own garden (for free). Check out their website to learn how you can get involved.
