The Family and Consumer Sciences Education graduate program is part of a consortium of universities that are connected through Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance (GPIDEA).

There are 3 pathways for the graduate program in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
This pathway is a program of study for students with a bachelor’s degree in a related field who seek initial teacher certification or license in Family and Consumer Sciences Education or are currently working as a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher with a conditional certificate.
*Standards for teaching certification vary by state. Students are responsible for identifying and meeting requirements in a state other than Washington where they want to be certified. This program is aligned to meet the Washington State certification requirements.

This pathway is a program of study for certificated professionals in Family and Consumer Sciences Education who seek professional development and career advancement. This program provides continuing education to maintain and sustain high-quality FCS programs in middle, secondary schools, and other settings.

This pathway is a program of study is for certified teachers who seek to add a Family and Consumer Sciences endorsement. This pathway is for endorsement only and does not include a master's degree.

To get started today:
Step 1 (Master's Degree Students): Submit your university application.
Step 1 (Endorsement Only Students): Submit a Post Baccalaureate Application.
Step 2: Submit your program application and GPIDEA Student Acknowledgment Form.
Complete the online Program Application for your specified pathway.
Master’s of Science Degree: Specialization Family and Consumer Sciences Education Application
Family and Consumer Sciences Education Endorsement Application
Sign and email GPIDEA Student Acknowledgement Form to Dr. Bree Devlin.
Unofficial transcripts will need to be attached to the program application.
Admission is considered only after all application materials have been received and reviewed.
Step 3: Follow up.
Approval of transcript analysis will be returned to the student. Acceptance to the program email will be sent to the student. Student and Program Director, Dr. Bree Devlin will work together to establish a Plan of Study.
Step 4: Begin course work.
Enroll in courses through MyCWU and complete coursework on Canvas.
