  • What is the New Grad Survey?

The New Grad Survey is CWU’s First Destination Survey (FDS), which is a nationwide program offered by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) that collects information about where college graduates begin their careers. CWU will administer quarterly surveys in the fall, winter, and spring and then develop an annual report at the end of the school year. The Career Services department oversees the New Grad Survey program and works with partners across the university to ensure we hear from as many students as possible.

  • How is the New Grad Survey data collected?

The survey is available to all undergraduates who will be graduating in the current quarter. Prior to graduation and near the end of the quarter, students will be encouraged by their advisors, career counselors, professors, and other campus stakeholders to complete the survey. Once students graduate, the Career Services will lead and oversee efforts to connect with them and help them complete the survey. This includes, but is not limited to, phone and text outreach, LinkedIn searches, connections at alumni events, and related communications channels.

All survey data is collected in Qualtrics. This data will eventually be aggregated into a year-end report that provides details about where Wildcats are headed after graduation. All data included in these reports will remain anonymous.

  • How does the New Grad Survey help CWU?

By collecting first destination data and reporting on it, Central can gain a better understanding of where our students find employment after graduation and how they have been able to apply the skills and knowledge they gained at Central. This information can help prospective students understand how Central can prepare them for a variety of career paths, with the ultimate goal of increasing university enrollment.

  • How does the New Grad Survey help students?

Students will benefit because the data collected by the survey will increase the value of a CWU degree. When current and prospective students see where their peers are working, they will be more inclined to pursue similar career paths. These success stories also will help them build their professional networks and set new career goals for themselves.
