The program is designed as a four year program though we do have a three year option for students who have more than 45 college credits.

AFROTC Courses
General Military Course (GMC)
In your first AFROTC year, known as General Military Course (GMC), you'll be mentored, developed, and evaluated for your potential as an Air Force Officer. Engage in academic courses, participate in Physical Training (PT), and demonstrate leadership abilities in weekly Leadership Laboratories throughout the academic year. Successful candidates proceed to Field Training, a rigorous program at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, evaluating abilities in stress handling, leadership, and physical fitness. Completion qualifies you for enrollment in the Professional Officer Course.
Professional Officer Course (POC)
The Professional Officer Course (POC) is designed to prepare you for an Officer role in the Air Force, focusing on leadership and Joint Warfare. POC members have the unique opportunity to lead the Cadet Wing, planning week-to-week operations and major events such as base visits and the Military Ball. Upon successful completion, you'll graduate and commission as an Officer in the Air Force. POC members in good standing (meeting GPA, AFOQT, PT scores, etc.) are automatically eligible for a two-year scholarship—the Charles McGhee Leadership Award—covering up to $18,000 per year in tuition.

Highlights
Only the Best
For the third year in a row, the Air Force and Army ROTC at CWU undertook the Norwegian Foot March, a military endurance test. Our cadets marched 18.6-miles along the John Wayne Trail, carrying a rucksack of 24 lbs. Maybe next year you will join them in this mentally and physically straining feat.
Our History
The Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, Detachment 895, also known as the Cascade Cowboys at CWU was established in June 1951. To learn more, check out our CWU Air Force History.
