Physical Education Team Sports (PETS)

The purpose of the Physical EducationActivity Program is to offer students an instructional program that utilizes physical movement as the primary educational medium. This program provides opportunities for the student to learn and improve physical skills. In addition, students develop knowledge of rules, terminology, proper technique, and safety issues specific to each particular activity.

PETS 110 Basketball
Basketball is designed to improve basketball skills and knowledge and to provide an awareness of basketball as a lifetime sport offering fun and fitness.

PETS 113 Soccer
Soccer is designed to introduce to the student the skills and knowledge necessary to participate successfully and enjoyably in the activity of Soccer and to appreciate, by working within, the principles of team organization.

PETS 114 Slow Pitch Softball
Softball is designed to introduce to the student the skills and knowledge necessary to participate successfully and enjoyably in the team activity of softball and to appreciate, by working within the principles of team organization.

PETS 116 Volleyball
Volleyball is designed to introduce to the student the skills necessary to participate in the activity of volleyball at the entry level. Emphasis will be basic components of the game.

PETS 117 Advanced Volleyball
Intermediate volleyball is designed to introduce to the student, the skills necessary to participate in the activity of volleyball at an intermediate skill level. Emphasized will be refinement of the basic components of the game. Prerequisite, PETS 116 or by permission.

PETS 120 Table Tennis
Table tennis will teach skills used during pair and partner play that will increase players ability to play faster and with more accuracy. 

PETS 122 Touch Rugby
Touch rugby, the non-contact version of rugby adds variety to the team sports offered through the PE Activity Program. Students will have the opportunity to achieve and maintain a heath enhancing level of physical fitness while learning and performing motor skills and movement patterns unique to touch rugby. The course offers opportunity for self - expression and social interaction.

PETS 210 Officiating Volleyball and Basketball
This course explores the officiating components of basketball and volleyball at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. Certification of middle and high school basketball and volleyball will be acquired, by passing WOA exam, at the conclusion of the course.

PETS 211 Umpiring Baseball and Softball
This course explores the officiating components of baseball and softball at the middle school, high school, and collegiate levels. Certification of middle and high school baseball and softball will be acquired at the conclusion of the course.

PETS 212 Officiating Football and Soccer
This course explores the officiating components of football and soccer at the middle school, high school and collegiate levels. Certification will be acquired at the conclusion of a successful passing grades at the completion of the course.
