Physical Education Individual and Dual (PEID)

The purpose of the Physical Education Activity Program is to offer students an instructional program that utilizes physical movement as the primary educational medium. This program provides opportunities for the student to learn and improve
physical skills. In addition, students develop knowledge of rules, terminology, proper technique, and safety issues specific to each particular activity.

PEID 110 Badminton
Beginning badminton is designed to introduce the student to the knowledge and basic skills of badminton and to develop those skills to a level that enables the student to participate in the sport at a beginning level.

PEID 113 Beginning Bowling
Bowling is designed to introduce the student to the knowledge and basic skills of bowling and to develop those skills to a level that enables successful participation in the activity of bowling.

PEID 114 Intermediate Bowling
Intermediate bowling is designed to introduce the student to the knowledge and advance skills of bowling and to develop those skills to a level that enables successful participation in bowling for recreation and competition. Prerequisite, PEID 113 or by permission.

PEID 120 Beginning Fencing
Beginning fencing is designed to introduce the student to the knowledge and skills of fencing and to develop those skills to a level that enables them to participate in the activity at an entry level.

PEID 121 Intermediate Fencing
Intermediate fencing is designed to continue with the development of personal growth and training in one weapon in particular as well as all three. This course develops individual technique. Prerequisite PEID 120 or by permission

PEID 123 Beginning Tennis
Beginning tennis is designed to introduce the student to the basic skills and knowledge of tennis and to develop that skill to a level that enables them to participate in the activity at a beginning level.

PEID 124 Intermediate Tennis
Intermediate tennis is designed to improve the student’s tennis knowledge and skills to a level that enables them to participate in the activity at an intermediate level. Prerequisite PEID 123 or by permission.

PEID 125 Advanced Tennis
Advanced tennis is designed to improve the student’s tennis knowledge and skills to a level that enables them to participate in that activity at an advance level including competition. Prerequisite PEID 124 or by permission.

PEID 128 Beginning Skiing
This course is designed to introduce students to skills related to downhill skiing including balance, coordination, agility, cardiovascular and muscle endurance through lessons taught by certified instructors at the Ski/Snowboard School. Additional fees.

PEID 129 Intermediate Skiing
This course is designed to improve the student’s knowledge and physical skills associated with the activity of alpine skiing. Lessons are taught by certified instructors at the Ski/Snowboard School. Snowboard instruction is an option in this class. Students will be grouped according to skill and will progress through designated skill levels at their own pace. Additional fees.

PEID 130 Cross Country Skiing
Cross-country skiing is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and physical skills associated with this activity. Safety and winter survival factors will also be addressed.

PEID 134 Bicycling
Bicycling is designed to introduce the student the activity of bicycling. Emphasis will be on safety factors, bike maintenance, general principle of cardiovascular fitness and cycling performance. 

PEID 136 Pickle ball
This class is designed to introduce to students the basic skills, fundamentals, safety procedures and knowledge to participate in activities in the activities of pickle ball.

PEID 137 Hiking and Orienteering
This class provides the tools necessary to participate safely in outdoor hiking pursuits. This course includes several short hikes as well as fields experience in orienteering. Meets in classroom and offsite.

PEID 138 Karate
Beginning karate is designed so that by the end of the course the student will have an understanding of and a basic competence in Karate. 

PEID 139 Intermediate Karate
Intermediate karate progresses in the skill level competency attained in the beginning class. Students will improve in the skills requiring coordination, strength, and flexibility. 

PEID 140 Fly Fishing
This course is designed to give the student practice in the basics of fly casting. The class is designed to include 50% in-class instruction and 50% outside casting/practical application. The specific learned skills of casting will include: roll casts, pick-up and laydown casts, false casts, shooting line, the Double haul and other specific presentation casts. Meets in classroom and offsite.

PEID 145 Beginning Circus Arts
Introduction to juggling, unicycling and similar skills involving balance and coordination.

PEID 146 Intermediate Circus Arts
Development of juggling, unicycling, and similar skills involving balance and coordination.

PEID 147 Conceptual Martial Arts
Course is designed to introduce students to the techniques and motions of self-defense.

PEID 148 Advanced Conceptual Martial Arts
An advanced course for those who express interest and have the skill level to learn advanced
techniques and motions of self-defense. Prerequisite: PEID 147 or permission of the instructor.
