What is STEP?
STEP builds a foundation in scientific research and writing to launch students on second-year research, teaching, or engineering experience:
- Gain valuable scientific skills
- Participate in faculty-mentored research and teaching experiences
- Build a foundation for your STEM major with ongoing academic and social support
- Take specially designed courses for the STEP cohort
- Contribute to a like-minded community
- Live in the STEP Living Learning Community (optional)

The freshman STEP program will be on hiatus for the 2022-2023 academic year and will return in Fall 2023.
The Transfer student program is still running in Fall 2022, with the STEP301 Life Hacks for Transfer Student Success course.
Interested Transfer students can register for the class starting in spring 2022.
