Welcome!
Welcome to the Central Washington University Department of Music website! We are proud to have the reputation of being one of the top music programs in the Northwestern United States. Along with assembling some of the finest performers and Music Faculty around, we are dedicated to being a place of welcoming and belonging. If you have a passion for music and wish to continue your musical growth alongside faculty and students of the highest integrity, CWU Music is the place for you! Come over for a visit and tour our magnificent Music Facility.
With over 300 music majors, there are plenty of opportunities to participate in one of our outstanding ensembles. Our list of large ensembles include the Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Opera, Symphonic Winds, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Chamber Orchestra, University Chorale, Wildcat Chorus, and Vox Divina. Smaller ensembles include Jazz Bands, Jazz Choirs, Jazz Combos, Brass, Flute, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba/Euphonium, Percussion and Mariachi. As a music student, you can choose from a variety of degrees that include the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Performance, Music Education, Composition and the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music. We also offer a “Liberal Studies” degree that allows students to customize their bachelor's degree program to prepare them for a variety of career options. If you are looking for graduate work, we offer several Masters degrees in Music, in addition to our very successful summer Master of Music Education program. And finally, we offer several opportunities for music students to study abroad.
