Conditional Admission to Central Washington University
International students who would like to attend CWU as an undergraduate* but have not yet achieved a required English proficiency test score (IELTS 6.0; TOEFL: 71 iBT; or Duolingo: 105) may apply for conditional admission to the university at the same time that they apply to the UESL program.
Students with conditional admission will receive a letter noting their intended major and stating that they have met all admission requirements except for language proficiency; this will be noted on their UESL I-20 as well.
Students with conditional admission can be fully admitted as CWU undergraduates by completing level 4 and level 5 (at least two academic terms) of UESL with grades of “B” or higher in all classes and receiving a recommendation from the UESL program, or by achieving a language proficiency test score while studying in the UESL program.
In order to receive conditional admission, students must complete the international student application, submit required documents (except for proof of English proficiency) and pay the application fee and deposit. Students must also complete the UESL application and pay the UESL application fee ($50).
When submitting the UESL application, be sure to notify the UESL program that you have also applied for conditional admission. Do this by writing to uesl@cwu.edu.
For more information about conditional admission, write to intladm@cwu.edu.
*Conditional admission is not available for CWU graduate-level study.
