Exercise Science & Clinical Physiology
Degree Options to Meet Your Goals
The Department of Health Sciences provides two Bachelors of Science degree programs focused on human health and healthcare, providing students with flexibility to meet their career interests. A link to each degree program's webpage and a brief description of each degree program are provided below:
- Exercise Science: This program engages students in scientific evidence to gain in depth understanding of the links among fitness, exercise, diet, and health. This program focuses to prepare students for careers as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, Personal Trainer, Exercise Specialist, Corporate Wellness Coordinator, etc.
- Clinical Physiology: This program integrates knowledge from disciplines of human physiology, human anatomy, and musculoskeletal biomechanics to emphasize how healthy and clinical populations respond to exercise, rehabilitation, inactivity, and disease. This program focuses to prepare students for careers in healthcare, such as: Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physicians Assistant, Chiropractic Medicine, Athletic Training, Physician, Medical Exercise Specialist, etc.
Both the Exercise Science program and Clinical Physiology program couple classroom-based learning with a variety of hands-on laboratory experiences. This strategy allows students to develop knowledge and practical skills necessary for a variety of health and healthcare related careers. Each student's journey will culminate with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in a real-world setting during a capstone 360-hour internship.
Prospective students are strongly encouraged to discuss your career interests with our Health Sciences Advisor to ensure you enroll into the major that best aligns with your future goals.
Graduates from these programs may also be interested in our Masters Degree program in Integrative Human Physiology. Please reach out to our general Health Sciences email to learn more about dual degree pathways that provide CWU undergraduate students the opportunity to earn a Masters degree in as little as 1 year after completing their bachelors degree.
