Music Education Certifications

About the Music Education, BS

A degree in Music Education prepares you to teach music in K-12, but also provides you the support to become an accomplished musician through theory-to-practice opportunities and experiences.

There are two options for our music teacher degree: Instrumental Certification and Choral Certification. Our Choral Certification is for students wishing to pursue teaching positions with a choral focus and our Instrumental Certification is for students wishing to focus their teaching in a band related area.

“Central Washington University is truly a special place. I had access to some of the most amazing teachers and performance halls that I could have asked for coming out of high school. The atmosphere is something unlike any other school - there's a true sense of community, friendship, and support from teachers and fellow students.” Brooke Scholl graduated from CWU in 2013.
