About the Exercise Science, BS

Exercise Science studies movement and associated functional responses with the goal of enabling an understanding of the links between fitness, exercise, diet, and health. You'll learn a scientific approach to study how exercise and the human body interact.

Exercise Science encompasses a wide variety of disciplines and the study of these disciplines is integrated into the academic preparation of exercise science professionals. Disciplines include biomechanics, sports nutrition, exercise psychology, and exercise prescription. In addition, coursework includes evaluating health behaviors and risk factors, conducting fitness assessments, and writing appropriate exercise prescriptions.

Highlights

Kelly Pritchett, who teaches both Nutrition and Exercise Science classes, is the author of several studies on eating attitudes and behavior in athletes. Check out her work through the Brooks Library.

Since 2016, CWU has partnered with Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences in Yakima to create the Yakima Valley Interprofessional Practice and Education Initiative, which seeks to produce and develop new collaborative approaches to regional healthcare while also improving access to care.
