Central Washington Writing Project
Who Are We?
The Central Washington Writing Project (CWWP) is one of approximately two hundred local sites of the National Writing Project (NWP). CWWP is based at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. We are a professional learning community of teachers who teach elementary, secondary, and college-level writing across Washington State. Our goal is to improve student writing achievement in all content areas and across all grade levels (K-20) in our state by offering peer-mentoring, professional development, and research-validated instructional resources to teachers.
Current CWWP Projects and Programs
College, Career, and Community Writers Program (C3WP) open summer institute
The institute offers teachers in grades 4-10 a hands-on introduction to the C3WP program.

College, Career, and Community Writers Program (C3WP) School-Embedded Professional Development
C3WP students outperformed students in control districts on four attributes of argument writing - content, structure, stance, and conventions.
The research-validated C3WP professional development goals include:
- Improving teacher's practice in the teaching of evidence-based argument and opinion writing.
- Improving student's academic writing achievement.
- Increasing the number of teacher-leaders prepared to facilitate the shift to argument and opinion writing.
