SGSR will broaden access to graduate education and research, empowering CWU students to create relevant, resilient futures for themselves, the region, and the world.

Mission

To broaden access to graduate education and research, SGSR develops and implements responsive support systems for faculty and students while advancing graduate programs that meet the evolving skill sets of today's workforce. 

Strategic Innovation

  • Graduate Enrollment Management (GEM)

    • Implementation of Slate for admissions
       Software ecosystem to be released in Winter 26
    • Review of recruitment, admission, enrollment and retention procedures
       Includes Direct Admission MOUs; Leave of Absence form; Option Committee Approval form; etc.
    • Use of NSF/CGS's National Name Exchange and McNair Scholars recruitment databases
       Constant Contact national marketing communication plan
    • Developing of marketing materials and strategies 
       Scaffolding of Regional (Yakima) and Internal (CWU) campaigns
    • Definition of admission and enrollment goals for 2030

  • Academic Innovation

    • Implementation of Dual Degree framework 
    To create pathways that lead undergraduate to graduate degrees in reduced timelines
    • Expansion of Masters of Applied Sciences programs
    Offering ~ one-year, non-thesis pathways for working professionals
    • Launching of Masters of Business Administration
    A viable online option offering four professional specializations
    • Developing of a Graduate Online strategy 
    Opening access to graduate education
