What is Sonia Kovalevsky Day?

Sonia Kovalevsky Days are offered at universities around the country to honor Sonia Kovalevsky, the first woman in the modern era to earn a doctorate in mathematics. This all-day event includes activities lead by CWU’s award-winning Mathematics faculty, career inspiration, community building for K-12 students, and professional development seminars for teachers with clock hours provided by the Washington State Mathematics Council.

The CWU Department of Mathematics and College of the Sciences is excited to host Sonia Kovalevsky Day 2026 on our campus! 

Registration

Spaces are limited at this year's Sonia Kovalevsky Day. Students and educators interested in registering will be asked to complete the Registration Form and pay through a separate vendor.

$15 each for students
Free for educators
