    Industry advisory boards play a crucial role in guiding educational institutions by providing valuable insights and expertise from the industry. These boards typically consist of professionals and experts from various fields who offer advice on curriculum development, internship opportunities, current industry trends, and skill requirements. Their input helps ensure that academic programs align with industry expectations and prepare students for successful careers.

  • Practicing Professionals in Residence Program (PPiRP)

    The College of Education and Professional Studies (CEPS) is excited to announce the launch of the Practicing Professionals in Residence Program for Fall 2024. This innovative program is designed to strengthen our partnership with employers and industry partners by having experienced professionals teach courses and participate in service activities, such as our career readiness program. This further solidifies the college's commitment to career-focused education. The initiative aligned with the college's strategic priority six (partnerships) aims to bring real-world professional expertise into the classroom, providing students with valuable career inspiration and guidance, and creating a dynamic learning environment that goes beyond traditional academics.

  • Career Fairs

    Career fairs allow employers, students, and alumni to meet and discuss internships, co-ops, and full time opportunities, fostering student engagement.

  • Industry Exploration and Immersion

    Industry exploration field trips provide students with the opportunities to directly observe and experience real-world work environments, gaining practical insights into different industries. This is an integral tool for career development.

  • Guest Speakers

    Having guest speakers can greatly enhance student's learning experiences by offering practical knowledge and real-world insights, better preparing them for successful careers in the future.

  • Information Sessions

    Employers can host an event for students showcasing their organization and career opportunities, typically for an hour, either on campus or virtually.

  • Senior Projects

    Senior projects and industry involvement are high-impact practices that benefit students by enabling them to apply their theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios and gain practical experience in their chosen field. This is an important aspect of preparing them for future careers as it helps bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.

  • Professional Organization Student Chapter Involvement

    Employer and industry partners can collaborate with campus groups affiliated with national professional societies and organizations, such as IEEE, ASME, and ACCE. These events offer the opportunity to observe students in leadership roles and engage them through guest speaking, networking, and sponsorship.
