When should I submit my application?
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but will be reviewed by the committee shortly after the application deadline dates. For Winter and Fall 2026, the application deadlines are:
- SGF Application Deadline Winter: Monday, February 16th
- SGF Application Deadline Spring: TBD
-
How does the committee choose which projects receive funding?
The committee looks at several factors when selecting projects. These include the project's environmental impact, how it aligns with the university’s sustainability goals, its feasibility, and the potential for lasting positive effects. The more clear and realistic your plan, the higher the chances of receiving funding.
-
When will I know if my project was funded?
After the committee has reviewed all project presentations, they will meet to vote on which projects will receive funding, with a simple majority required for approval. Once the committee’s decisions are made, awardees will be notified, and we will seek final confirmation from the CWU Chief Financial Officer before funding is distributed.
-
Can I reapply for funding if I did not get approved this year?
Yes! If your project was not funded, you are welcome to reapply. We encourage you to review feedback from the committee and make any necessary updates to strengthen your application before resubmitting.
-
Do I need a faculty or staff member to endorse or sponsor my application?
Yes, a faculty or staff sponsor is required for your project. When submitting your application, you will be asked to provide their name, title, and department email.
-
How much funding is available for each project?
Funding amounts will vary depending on the number of applications received and the scope of each project. There is currently no set funding limit per project, but applicants are required to submit a detailed budget. The committee will determine funding allocations based on project feasibility, impact, and available resources.
