Remote Access for CWU Faculty and Staff - VPN/Network Drives


CWU's VPN (Virtual Private Network) is for active users only. VPN is available upon request - if you would like to request access you can do so here: VPN Access Request Form.

  1. To load the new VPN Client, open an internet browser and click the address below. Login with your CWU username and password. https://remote.cwu.edu
  2. After you log in, the paloalto (GlobalProtect Portal) Network page will open. You will use this portal to download the VPN client appropriate for the kind of system you are using. Most modern windows systems run 64 bit. Linux distributions are not currently supported.
    • The download will appear at the bottom of the page and then be accessible through your Downloads folder on your computer's file system.
    • On a Mac this process will look like this.
  3. Install the program (client).
  4. On Windows, you can launch Global Protect from the start menu or system tray (the carrot next to the date/time). The icon will appear as a grey globe when not connected.

    2. Connect to the VPN (Gateway/Portal address is remote.cwu.edu). Login using your MyCWU credentials.See the instructions above for these images.

  5. Once connected, you should see the following page:

This means that you have successfully connected via VPN.
