Industrial Hygiene

According to the American Board of Industrial Hygiene, "Industrial hygiene is the science of protecting and enhancing the health and safety of people at work and in their communities. Health and safety hazards cover a wide range of chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic stressors. Those dedicated to anticipating, recognizing, evaluating, and controlling those hazards are known as Industrial Hygienists. They are professionals dedicated to the well-being of people – at work, at home, and in the community."

The University is committed to protecting its employees from environmental hazards that arise out of or during the course of employment.

CWU's industrial hygiene program deals with the recognition, evaluation, and control of environmental health hazards. The program provides industrial hygiene surveys, monitoring, consultation, and inspections. These services help control the recognized health hazards at CWU and identify new hazards as university operations change.
